I've been with my boyfriend for nearly a year now and just 2 months ago i moved to London to be with him. However, recently i saw a message sent to his ex girlfriend on facebook and it upset me because this is a girl he was completely infatuated with just before we went out, . He said it was nothing to be worried about and that they where friends for 11 years and he just wants to keep in touch. But he has also messaged her twice before and even after he knew how much it bothered me he's now done it again. Should i really believe that he just wants to be civil? Or should i be worried? Help please! =(

You would hope that after being together for over a year that you would have developed a level of trust and loyalty in your relationship with your boyfriend. However, if you are suspicious of his behaviors with this woman, then the trust and loyalty you feel is uncertain. One can never know what other people are thinking, and only he knows if he means what he says -- that he is just being friendly and civil with this woman.

I suggest that you continue to be the loving and giving girlfriend you have always been. In doing so, he would have no reason to wander over to someone else. Being proactive in this way is your best strategy to offset cheating, as opposed to being suspicious, worried and questioning him all of the time. If there are problems in your relationship, then you may want to address them as soon as possible so your boyfriend knows that you are committed to him and desirous of building a future together.

Good luck!
