I need some serious help here. I had been friends with a man for a year before we decided to become friends with benefits. Trouble is, I fell deeper than he did and now he has decided to "date", read sleep with, another woman who, as his best friend, I know is all wrong for him!!! I'm out on my ear and she's got my place in his bed! I alternate between crying my eyes out and being mad as heck at both of them. I really do not want to lose his companionship! We have a great time together AND (get this) work together, so there's no way I can "NOT SEE HIM". Here's my question: How do I get over my heartbreak, but keep our friendship intact? I'm not really sure what you want here -- my guess is that you want this man to be interested in you as a friend, as a sexual partner, and a work companion. Or, as you ask, "How do I get over my heartbreak, but keep our friendship intact?"
Well, guess what? It's easier said than done.
If you surf around my website here, you'll see that I am not a big advocate on maintaining platonic relationships with the opposite sex, especially after being physically intimate. That's because some of your emotional energies are still connected, and it's difficult to sever them. As I've said many times before, "sex is like superglue -- it's easy to get stuck, but very difficult to get unstuck."
