The "Weddings" section of tne December 17, 2006 NYTimes had an article Questions Couples Should Ask (Or Wish They Had) Before Marrying that I think rivals my own "Top Ten Questions to Ask a Potential Life Partner" (a copy of which can be requested by going to the Contact Us page). They were billed as "a few key questions that couples should consider asking before marriage" since, as Eric V. Copage writes, "Many couples assume that they know each other and the ground rules for their marriages, and sometimes they dodge important questions because they don?t want to rock the boat." I don't disagree, and while many of our questions are similar, such as those evaluating compatible life goals regarding children, finances, family involvement, religious practices and career ambitions, Copage lists a few others that I also think are important, such as: #3. Have we discussed our expectations for how the household will be maintained, and are we in agreement on who will manage the chores?
#4. Have we fully disclosed our health histories, both physical and mental? #5. Is my partner affectionate to the degree that I expect? #7. Will there be a television in the bedroom?
